Teacher In Charge:
Introduced in 1995 at the time of the then principal Mr. W.M.Bandaranayake, the Western Music subject has developed and achieved great heights in a very short period of time. Having been taught for the initial four years the first O/L batch in1999 set the bar real high obtaining 100% results, which became a trend in the years that followed.
Since 1997 the College Choirs have been participating at every Annual School Choirs Festival organized by the Kandy Music Society thus far.
Participating in the All Island Western Music Singing and Dance Competitions, organized by the Ministry of Education back in 2002, the primary Choir was able to secure the 2nd place at the very first competition they faced.
The second Choir competition attended granted even better results; the junior Choir achieving the 1st place at the provincial level and both primary and senior choir achieving 1st place at both provincial and national level.
Following are the achievements obtained by the College Choirs at the All Island Western Music Singing and Dance competitions in the years that followed.

In addition to the abovementioned events the College Choir also participated In the national Music Festival “Music for Unity” organized by the Ministry of Educationi n the years 1998 and 2005.
Since the 1st English Day in 2005 the Western Music Choirs have also been able to occupy an unique position in their schedule.
