WORLD SCHOLARS CUP - 2013.

World Scholar’s Cup is a Global Team Academic Competition involving secondary schools participating from over 40 countries in which students learn a unified curriculum around a theme that changes every year. They then use what they learn in team-oriented events. They debate other teams from other countries, they write persuasive essays on a given topic, they answer questions versus the other teams and much more. They build an international community focused on a common curriculum.
World Scholar’s Cup is a unique and pioneer event and the only academic competition of its kind.
This competition, held in 3 Rounds will be in Kenya and Dubai and Yale.
The Regional Round 2 took place in Dubai from 30th May to 2nd June 2013.
The team which got selected to represent Sri Lanka was from Dharmaraja College Kandy. That consisted of three members namely,
1. Bharatha Madusanka Rankothge.
2. Rahal Chandula Medawatte.
3. Janith Anuradha Weerakkody.
600 participants from 300 teams were fighting for the Scholar’s Cup in the Regional Round and Bharatha Madusanka Rankothge was selected as the Best Scholar.
Our team won 14 medals including the Best Award for the Debating Team.
